Enter the eclectic world of Scout Design studio

In places some are scared to go. In the dingy dusty corners lay some of the best treasures. Exposing ourselves to cultures and experiences outside a typical comfort zone wakes up the brain and inspires the senses. And it brings levity and gravity to our daily lives. It is easy to get wrapped up looking at your day, your task, your reality, with horse blinders on. We are here to practice humility, lack of ego and taking a big step back to look at the big picture.

Discover Your Design District

When we take a road trip, we pack a list of the best design shops for inspiration and to scour for local treasures. We queried more than 40 interior designers to see where they pull over to shop in Dallas and beyond. The release of its latest collection will be unveiled Wednesday at the Scout Secret Soirée. The event is free and includes signature cocktails, bites, drag queens, nail art, fortune tellers, and works from Hong Kong artist Jen Lin and Dallas artist Blake Wright. The pieces will be featured and available for purchase with proceeds from the evening to benefit Dallas Contemporary. We design, manufacture and retail our product.

(great) Mother’s Day gifts

Well-known interior designers around the globe have made a pilgrimage here for more than 30 years. Brock has access to many of the finest estates and private collections in the country and has recently opened a stunning new showroom in the Dallas Design District. We’ve had a lot of success with acrylic pieces in our line and we feature some beautiful and unique artwork from artisans around the world. We feature a few pieces in each home decor category without saturating anything – dining chairs, bar stools, occasional chairs, rugs, lamps, tables, soft goods & casegoods. This precious boutique in a bungalow with blue doors has a wide array of antiques, furniture, modern light fixtures, art, tabletop, and accessories, and is owned by five interior designers. The room settings are imaginative, fresh, and livable.

WHAT YOU’LL FIND

If it were easy everyone would do it. We say this frequently to remind ourselves that we are doing something cool. Especially by offering lacquering services. Delivering lacquered furniture is HARDER!

Wall Art

Their motto is, “We’re not for everyone, but neither are you” because of the funky eclectic vibe they have going on. From hand sculptures to ramen in a large heel, the décor and pieces are meant to feel fun and unique. Across the street, is Scout Vintage, which is a reflection of what the showroom use to be. A 10,000-square-foot resource with fine 17th- through 20th-century antiques, accessories, and art sourced from buying trips around the globe. Designer Chad Dorsey’s showroom space is filled with the muscular, handsome furniture and objects that permeate his interiors projects.

One of our favorite things each day is listening to someone’s first words as they walk in – sometimes it’s just a gasp – it’s an entirely different shopping experience and it’s what we feel shopping for your home SHOULD feel like. That’s our goal – you don’t need to refinance your home just to refresh it. You can come here and fall in love with several pieces and afford and not have to jockey a budget in order to have all of them. We started with a few chairs and then moved into lighting, case goods and decor. We love vintage and finding those truly unique pieces so it will always be in the mix to some extent. A great consignment furniture store specializing in a mix of antique, mid-century modern, and contemporary designer furnishings, from a Faye Toogood Fudge chair to a Gae Aulenti for Knoll coffee table and Julian Chichester Storm cabinet.

We custom build furniture in our very own workshop here in Dallas. We offer custom rugs that we source directly from the weavers who make them. We create artwork that you will not find anywhere else because we are the artist. From mood boards to full design plans and installs. And maybe most importantly, we offer Vibe Checks free of charge.

A mecca for modernists for 28 years. Mid-century and classic modern furniture, kitchens, closet systems, lighting, and accessories, with more than 100 internationally renowned brands including Poliform, Cassina, Poltrona Frau, Paola Lenti, Flexform, Moooi, and more. Traditional British-style plush sofas and furnishings, tablescapes layered with block-print tablecloths, colored glassware, and OKA’s signature blue-and-white Kraak china … packed with color, texture, and personality. A precious shop where owners Mia Brous and Kerri Goldfarb showcase custom headboards and tables, case goods, lighting, pillows, bedding, and mirrors, as well as Mahjong tables, a collaboration between Madre X The Mahjong Line.

But that was how we started, and we are damn good at it. So, we refinish vintage furniture. We design our own line of furniture that we have manufactured in small, curated batches.

Don’t miss the contemporary art gallery next door. The team has recently opened a showroom in the Dallas Design District as well. Owners Mac Hoak and Fred Perkins assemble a stunning collection of furnishings and garden decor with a mix of vintage furniture and antiques, original art, lighting, and home and garden accessories. Owner Katherine Sterling has gathered exceptional antique furniture, lamps, and accessories, most 19th century and older, with an emphasis on European pieces. Also modern and contemporary art, wonderful accessories, and custom-made table and floor lamps with bespoke shades. Product designer and decorator Caitlin Wilson offers up her collections of textiles and wallpapers, as well as antique-inspired Persian rugs, pillows, lighting, furniture, and more in a precious storefront.

We pride ourselves in our personal touch. We are real people making real furniture for real people. Each sale as each piece is unique to itself. We walk the client through the process in a methodical manner. Explaining each step in the process along with the materials used. We want client to know the species of veneer, the fabric content, where the hardware comes from, each step in the process of inception to completion.

You can turn a corner at any given moment and be blown away by a completed new design. But to pick one, I would say our Etta Dining Table. Beautiful clean lines that beg a second look.

Tastefully tapered legs overlaid with a table top with the perfect skirt for an extra dazzle. Not one is the same because they are veneered with natural wood with graining that makes the table move. A treasure trove of limited-run Scout Label furniture, exclusive artwork, custom furniture, and vintage finds. At his Fair Park loft/showroom, Russell Brightwell sells vintage design objects, ceramics, collectibles, art and editions, and a library of fashion, art, and photography books all in situ, as they might be in a home. From architect-designed tableware to fashion and design collaborations, his stock reflects a lifetime of collecting. Antique rugs, hand-woven modern rugs, flat weaves, vintage, kilims, and custom designs.

We want to know the space where the piece is going to live. For them to know the why behind the what. This is important when you are building an heirloom piece that will live on for generations. We are developing a relationship with the client because they need to feel comfortable paying for a piece that they won’t see for 10 weeks. A collection of 20th-century furnishings ranging from collector’s pieces to anonymous rare finds paired with contemporary objects and art.
